Linder Tire celebrates 80 years in Iowa by giving back to community
IOWA CITY– Linder Tire Service, Inc., celebrated its 80th anniversary in June by pledging four dollars for every tire and eight dollars for every alignment sold during the month of June to these local organizations: The Iowa City store donated to the Johnson County Salvation Army. The North Liberty location supported the North Liberty Food Pantry and the Grinnell store partnered with the Grinnell Community Daycare and Preschool.
Linder Tire Service is proud to announce that $6,160 was generated during June. The Iowa City store will be giving $3,300 to the Salvation Army, the North Liberty store $1,184 to the North Liberty Food Pantry and Grinnell’s location generated $1,676 for the Grinnell Community Daycare and Preschool.
“This project was something that we have wanted to do for a couple of years. Getting it going was a challenge and now that we’ve done one, we’re not going to lose steam. There will be ‘Give Back Campaigns’ again making this year’s a first annual event,” said John J. Linder, president of Linder Tire Service. “If our 80 years in business have taught us anything, it is the value of relationships backed by quality service and integrity. We will continue our relationship with local organizations that keep our communities strong. It will be exciting to see ‘The Give Back Campaign’ develop over time. We are happy with our first effort and I will be glad to sign these three checks.”
The Iowa City Salvation Army continually makes a difference in many lives within the community by supporting the nightly free community dinner, many social services, and ongoing youth programs for about 100 at-risk kids within Johnson County. The Salvation Army doesn’t simply do one thing to fix people’s problems, they build up relationships with people in our community who are looking for hope.
Linder Tire Service recently contributed to the campaign for a new North Liberty Food Pantry building and sees this as an opportunity to further support the new facility. North Liberty Community Pantry executive director, Tina Dubois, noted, “local support is essential to meet the needs of local families. At the pantry we strive to be neighbors helping neighbors.” The pantry averages 470 visits per month and serves those who are most vulnerable in the community. You can find out more about the pantry at www.northlibertycommunitypantry.org.
The funds donated to the Grinnell Community Daycare and Preschool will be used in its campaign to update equipment and materials in the preschool and daycare. Both of which have the same mission, to provide a safe, supportive, educational environment for their students. Tuition assistance is available on sliding fee scale to those families in need. The Daycare Center has been supporting families in Grinnell for 43 years.
Linder Tire has three locations in Iowa City, North Liberty and Grinnell. The journey for this Iowa-based family business has been a full one and we believe the best is yet to come. If the employees and the customers have anything to say about it– and surely they will– then the sky is the limit. For more information visit www.lindertire.com.
