Lois L. Walkner, 81, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, April 4, 2013, in Mercy Medical Center. There will be no service or viewing according to her wishes. Lois was cremated.
Survivors include her husband, Oliver Walkner; and her children, Alan (Jody) McMurrin of Kalona, Davad McMurrin of Cedar Rapids, R. Scott McMurrin of Cedar Rapids, Susan Christofferson of Everett, Wash., Mike (Connie) Walkner of Cedar Rapids, Wayne (Laurie) Walkner of Solon, Sandy (Dave) Samek of Cedar Rapids, Beverly (Ed) Ruther of Crivitts, Wis., Mark (Tammy) Walkner of Solon, Sharon (Kent) Ricklefs of Center Junction, Kelly (Butch) Walkner of Chicago and Shelly (Luann) Walkner of Murrieta. Calif. Also surviving are a brother, Rick (Shirley) Zimmerman of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Norma Hadrava of Cedar Rapids; 27 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Lois was born Aug. 8, 1931, in Callaway, Neb., the daughter of Eugene and Olive Martin Zimmerman. In 1940, she moved to Cedar Rapids, where she remained. She attended McKinley High School from the seventh grade and graduated in 1949. She worked as an account receptionist and bookkeeper most all her life. She married Robert McMurrin on March 31, 1951, in Kahoka, Mo. He preceded her in death. She then married Oliver Walkner on Feb 11, 1994, in Cedar Rapids.
