Marilyn Brown of Iowa City passed peacefully from this earth Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at her home. Memorial services were held March 2 at First Presbyterian Church in Iowa City, with the Rev. Sam Massey officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church or Iowa City Hospice.
Marilyn Jean Brown was born on May 17, 1933, in Delta, to Alice and Keith (McKeag) Lemon. She was raised in Delta, Oskaloosa and Cedar Rapids, where she graduated in 1951 from McKinley High School. Soon after, Marilyn met the love of her life, Richard (Dick) Brown, and they were married on Oct. 15, 1954. They settled in Iowa City where Marilyn worked at Towner’s Clothing Store. Upon delivering the first of four children, Marilyn became a stay-at-home mother, caring for her family and home until the kids had graduated high school.
Local survivors include her daughter Beth (David) Lange of North Liberty.
