Marilyn M. Obermier, 81, of Clarence, died March 30, 2012, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Funeral services were held April 5 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Stanwood, by the Rev. Victor Young. Burial was at Dayton Valley Cemetery, Clarence.
Born March 8, 1931, in Lowden, the daughter of Forest and Myrtle (Straub) Ford, she married Wallace Obermier on June 4, 1950. He died Dec. 8, 2000.
Marilyn graduated from Lowden High School. Wallace and Marilyn resided in rural Clarence and raised six children, along with working a farm, which produced dairy cows, hogs and crops. Wally and Marilyn retired from the farm in 1980 to the town of Clarence and they spent many years as snowbirds in Silver City, N.M. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Stanwood.
Local survivors include Lorraine (Michael) Jordan of Swisher.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Glenn.
