Maxine Ann Cerveny, 86, of Fairfax, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Mass was held Aug. 21 at Blessed John XXIII Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Burial followed at St. Patrick’s Cemetery near Fairfax.
Maxine was born Aug. 3, 1926, in Fairfax, the daughter of Milo and Mildred (Cole) Cerveny. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids. Maxine worked as a secretary for the principal at McKinley and Jefferson high schools for many years. She retired from the Defense Contract Administration.
She was a member of the CRIABWA Chapter of American Business Women, Fairfax American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and St. Patrick Alter and Rosary Society
Local survivors include brother Jim (Jan) Cerveny of Swisher.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Fairfax Public Library.
