MDA names NL’s Grefe as new Goodwill Ambassador
NORTH LIBERTY– Taylor “Tay” Grefe, a lively 11 year-old from North Liberty, has been named Local Goodwill Ambassador for the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Eastern Iowa/Western Illinois.
As the new Goodwill Ambassador, Taylor will make public appearances throughout the community to encourage volunteers in the association’s year-round educational and fund-raising campaigns and will also take part in a number of special events.
Taylor is the daughter of Levi and Mia Grefe. Her condition was diagnosed as Charcot Marie Tooth type 1E at the age of seven. Charcot Marie Tooth is one of the muscle diseases covered by MDA’s research and care programs.
Taylor attends Clear Creek Amana middle school where she enjoys her favorite subject, science. Taylor also enjoys swimming, playing cards, shopping and playing board games. Taylor is described by her mom as being, “very straight forward, can be shy at first but warms up easily, enjoys attention, very confident and likes to take charge.” Taylor has two siblings, an older brother Drake and a younger sister Madison.
The muscular dystrophy association is the world’s leading nonprofit health agency dedicated to finding treatments and cures for muscular dystrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and other neuromuscular diseases. It does so by funding worldwide research; by providing comprehensive health care services and support to MDA families nationwide; and by rallying communities to fight back through advocacy, fundraising and local engagement.
