Meth making equipment found in Golfview Court home
NORTH LIBERTY– On March 29, officers of the North Liberty Police Department and Johnson County Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force executed a State of Iowa Narcotics Search Warrant at 95 Golfview Ct., North Liberty.
During the search of the residence and property curtilage, officers located several spent methamphetamine lab precursors, methamphetamine lab equipment, methamphetamine, paraphernalia and other evidentiary items. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
On April 8, Derek Anthony Schmelzer was arrested for controlled substance violation (Class B Felony) 124.401(1)(b), receive transport or possess firearm as a felon (Class D Felony) 724.26-2, and gathering for use of drugs (Class D Felony) 124.407-2. April Suzanne Schmelzer was arrested for controlled substance violation (Class B Felony) 124.401(1)(b) and gathering for use of drugs (Class D Felony) 124.407-2. Both were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Johnson County Jail and booked for those charges.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
