Methodist youth group collecting non-perishables for Pine Ridge Reservation
SOLON– Youth members of Solon United Methodist Church will be collecting nonperishable food items to be taken to the residents of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation at Wanblee, SD, through Friday, March 1.
Last summer, 21 Solon youth traveled to Wanblee on a mission trip sponsored by the Solon United Methodist Church. The Pine Ridge Indian Reservation is the most impoverished area in the United States, as these Solon youth can attest to. Since returning from last year’s trip, the youth group’s goal has been to provide further assistance to the Wanblee residents. One of the mission trip counselors will be traveling back to help the people of Wanblee on March 2, and is asking for support to fill a trailer with nonperishable food items. Solon Methodist Church will also be renting the trailer for him.
Please contact Kelly Meyer at 624-5191 or email email@example.com if you would like to have items picked up at your home or if you would like to help with this food drive. Ten percent of the food collected will be given to the Solon community food pantry.
