July adult prize winners
Seventy-seven patrons entered the Adult Reading Program drawing in July. They read a total of 248 books. The Adult Summer Reading Program began a few years ago when one of our regular adult patrons jokingly lamented that adults should win a candy bar for reading a book just like the kids do. Thus, the current Adult Reading Program was born.
During the summer months, additional prizes are given to correspond with the youth Summer Reading Program. A nook, provided with funds donated by Bridge Community Bank, was won by Sandra Lawrence. Mardi Rasmussen won a $20 gift certificate to Reggie’s Weenies. Nancy Worrell won a $20 gift certificate to El Sol. Jessica Hahn won a $20 gift certificate to Nomi’s and Julie Barrett won the $10 in cash and a Snickers bar. Congratulations, winners!
The Adult Reading Program continues throughout the year with a monthly prize of $10 cash provided by the Friends of the Solon Library. One entry per book read may be dropped in the jar at the circulation desk.
Babygarten will be resuming this fall on Wednesday, Sept. 28, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. There will no longer be registration. Children from newborn through 24 months and their caregivers may come to any or all sessions which will meet through Nov. 16. The program includes approximately 20-25 minutes of rhymes and songs followed by 30 minutes of play time. This program is specifically designed for one-on-one involvement between parent and child. After a break for the holidays, another session will begin in February.
