NL Fire Department responds to structure fire

NORTH LIBERTY– On Sunday, Sept. 6, at 7:37 a.m. the North Liberty Fire Department was dispatched to 107 Alydar Drive for a report of a smoldering charcoal grill that was melting the siding on the structure. A North Liberty Police Department officer on scene advised responding units that the back of the structure was fully involved. First-arriving North Liberty units found flames and smoke at the back home the home.
The residence was occupied at the time of the fire and the residents were safely evacuated. Residents in neighboring attached structures were also evacuated. The home did have working smoke detectors.
The fire department’s quick response enabled firefighters to contain the fire to the back of the structure and prevented further damage to the home. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Early property damage and content loss is undetermined at this time, but the back of the home did receive significant fire damage.
There were no reported injuries.
North Liberty units responding to the scene were Engine 112, Engine 113, Quint 114, and Rescue 119. The North Liberty Fire Department was assisted by the Johnson County Joint Communication Center, North Liberty Police Department, Coralville Fire Department, Solon Fire Department, Tiffin Fire Department and the Johnson County Ambulance Service.
