No champions for CCA at WaMaC wrestling tournament

WILLIAMSBURG– Clear Creek Amana’s (CCA) varsity wrestlers placed 14th overall at the 2017 WaMaC Conference Tournament Saturday, Jan. 28, at Williamsburg High School. None of the Clippers were crowned champions in the tournament, which was won by Solon with 221.5 team points. Host Williamsburg was second with 172.5.
Quinn Murphy and Ethan Taylor (138 and 285 pounds, respectively) were the highest-placing wrestlers for CCA with fourth-place showings. Samual Stevens (106) was a fifth-place finisher.
The Clippers return to Williamsburg on Saturday, Feb. 4, for Class 2A Sectional 3 action as they attempt to qualify for the state individual tournament. First- and second-place winners will advance to the Class 2A District 2 tournament Saturday, Feb. 11, at Fairfield. Both tournaments start at noon with a $6 admission for all spectators.
