North Liberty Youth Baseball and Softball to hold Fall Fun Ball
NORTH LIBERTY– North Liberty Youth Baseball and Softball (NLYBS) will offer Fall Fun Ball for girls and boys ages six through 10 years. The purpose is to provide a fun, relaxed fall baseball/softball experience for kids who want to play for the first time, want to continue playing for a few more weeks or are considering playing in a more advanced league next spring. The primary focus of Fall Fun Ball is to help kids transition into rookie and junior leagues, as well as to provide some additional fall recreation to those age groups that may not have other activities. The intent is to provide a fun, relaxed environment to allow kids to work on their skills and improve all aspects of their games, or to give them a feel for what the next league will be like.
Teams will convene on Monday nights between Sept. 10 and Oct. 8 (or Oct. 15 if there is a rain-out) from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at Penn Meadows Park ball diamonds. The first 45 minutes will consist of practice time followed by a scrimmage. Since the focus is fun, there will be no pressure, no scorekeeping and no required uniforms.
The league encourages parents to volunteer to coach. If you know a teenager who would like to help coach, he or she can volunteer as well.
Registration will be via e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org) or mail P.O. Box 438, North Liberty, IA 52317. Provide the child’s name, birthday, grade in school and league in which you wish them to participate (rookie or junior). Also parents’ name, email, phone number and an indication of their willingness to coach. Registrations will be accepted until the first day of practice/games on Sept. 10. If registering by email, bring the $20 registration fee on Sept. 10.
