Recreational Services offers environmental education with Snowy Owl Camp
IOWA CITY– The University of Iowa Recreational Services will offer their Snowy Owl Camp to first through sixth graders on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, on Dec. 23, 26, 27, 30 and Jan. 2 and 3, 2014. Camp days will begin supervision at 7:45 a.m. and will be provided until 4:15 p.m. Snowy Owl Camp will take place in three main facilities: Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex, Macbride Nature Recreation Area and the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center. The camp is broken down into three program areas:
Mondays, Dec. 23 and 30: campers will participate in outdoor recreational activities, such as studying winter birds, sledding, fire building, etc. at the MNRA.
Thursdays, Dec. 26 and Jan. 2: campers will be able to rock climb at the CRWC and then participate in hiking and wildlife tracking.
Fridays, Dec. 27 and Jan. 3: Campers will swim at the CRWC Leisure Pool, as well as playing outdoor games in the snow and building shelters.
Late Stay Program will not be provided for this camp. Campers will need to bring a sack lunch and water bottle each day. Forms must be mailed to Jeanette Luke at E320 CRWC Iowa City, IA 52242 by Monday, Dec. 16. Campers can be registered for from one to six days. Each day will be limited to 30 participants.
