Richard “Dick” Lewis, 95, of Iowa City, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral Services were held on Nov. 29 at Lensing’s Oak Hill with the Rev. Arnette Pint officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to The Richard Lewis Memorial Fund.
Dick was born Oct. 15, 1918, in Hopkinton, the son of George and Florence (Clark) Lewis. Growing up in the in the Hopkinton/Anamosa area, he lived in West Branch until moving to Iowa City in 1960. Dick married Doris Stahr March 14, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. The couple subsequently lived in California, Cedar Rapids, Anamosa, West Branch and Iowa City where Dick held jobs at Dubuque Packing Company, Procter and Gamble, and Triple D Welding where he was owner-operator. Dick was a charter member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Iowa City.
Dick is survived by his son Daryl (Debbie) of Iowa City; grandchildren, Darren (Carol) Lewis of Tiffin and their son Dalton; Darcy (Tim) Meder of Riverside and their children Lane and Quincy. His parents, his wife Doris, a sister Jo Ann Wolfe and a brother Clarence ”Guff” died before him.
