Robert H. Logan

Robert H. Logan, 83, of Washington, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington following a short illness.
Celebration of life services were held Oct. 6 at the United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. Interment was at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Robert Helmer Logan was born Nov. 28, 1930, in Washington, the son of Clarence Maxwell “Mike” and Marion (Helmer) Logan. Bob attended school in Washington and graduated from Washington High School. He attended Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois, for one year. Bob was united in marriage to Bernice Jean Stika on Feb. 9, 1956, in Iowa City.
Bob went to work with his dad at Klein Klothing Kompany in 1949. He later owned and operated the clothing store until 1979. In 1980, Bob went to work at the Washington State Bank as a bank teller, a position he held until retiring in 1995. He later worked part time for the Washington State Bank running the satellite banks at the United Presbyterian Home and Halcyon House until one month ago.
Bob was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Washington.
Bob is survived by daughters, Margaret Logan of North Liberty, and Kathryn (Douglas) MacCrea of Ames; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one sister, Joyce Bowman of Deadwood, South Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bernice, in January 2014; and one sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Lantz.
