Ronald Lathrop, 66, of Lone Tree, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2009 at the University of Iowa Hospital. Per Ronald’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Ronald. Sympathy notes may be left for the Lathrop family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. The Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services of Lone Tree is handling the arrangements for Ron and his family.
Ronald Dean Lathrop was born Aug. 21, 1942 in Iowa City, Iowa. Ronald served in the United States Marine Corps. Ronald was united in marriage to Patricia Gaynard on Nov. 4, 1966 in California. Ronald worked for Southern California Edison Power Company then moved to Iowa and worked for Iowa Electric/Alliant Energy. Following his retirement, he worked for the Iowa City Schools System by driving a school bus and also for Yellow Cab Company in Iowa City. Ronald was a member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association and a bowling league in Iowa City. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapshooting, bowling, woodworking and golfing.
Ronald will be deeply missed by his wife, Patricia of Lone Tree; two sons, Ken Lathrop and his wife, Denise of Lone Tree and Bob Lathrop and his wife, Cathy of Fairfield and five grandchildren, Ashleigh Conlan, Alissa Lathrop, Erin Lathrop, Madison Lathrop and Chase Lathrop.
Ronald was preceded in death by his grandparents and mother.
