Seven Creek Girls earn WaMaC All-Conference softball honors

Murray, Navara nab First Team spots with 91 combined hits

OXFORD– The WaMaC athletic conference released the 2016 All-Conference Softball picks for the East and West Divisions on Wednesday, July 13, with seven Clear Creek Amana (CCA) varsity players earning spots on the list.
Benton Community’s Eric Stenberg was named the West Division’s Coach of the Year as the Bobcats posted a 37-2 record overall and 18-0 conference showing in the regular season to lead the division.

First Team:
Grace Murray (junior), Claire Navara (junior)
Murray: Catcher, started 41 games in the regular season with 120 outs and a .979 fielding percentage. At bat, Murray hit with a .355 average getting 44 hits including six doubles and three home runs. She scored three runs and drove in 28.
Navara: Infielder started 40 games and hit with a .367 batting average good for 47 hits including 10 doubles and a pair of triples. She scored 31 runs and had 24 RBI in the regular season with 10 stolen bases. In the field Navara made 82 outs with a .940 fielding percentage.

Second Team:
Skylar Hop (senior), Karsyn Stratton (eighth grade), Courtney James (senior)
Hop: Pitcher, started 20 games with a 10-10 record in 119 innings in the circle. Hop’s ERA was 3.41 with 42 strikeouts. At bat Hop hit with a .316 average for 43 hits including four doubles. She scored six runs and drove in 30. In the field Hop made 156 outs with a .972 fielding percentage.
Stratton: Infielder, started 41 games with a .340 batting average good for 49 hits including nine doubles, a pair of triples and one homer. She scored 47 runs and had 25 RBI. Stratton also stole 34 bases. In the field she had 55 outs and a.826 fielding percentage.
James: Outfielder, started 39 games in the regular season with a .236 batting average and 25 hits. James knocked three doubles and one triple, scored 18 runs and drove in 16. She also had a pair of stolen bases. In the field, James made 54 outs with a .966 fielding percentage.

Honorable Mention: Megan Beckler (senior), Jacquelyn Fairholm (senior)
Beckler: 39 starts in the regular season working both the field and the circle. Beckler pitched 77 innings in 10 starts with a 3-8 record, a 4.82 ERA and 26 strikeouts. In the field, Beckler made 26 outs with a .934 fielding percentage. At bat she had a .281 average with 34 hits including a dozen doubles, one triple and three homers. She scored 17 runs with 33 RBI.
Fairholm: 41 starts with 48 outs in the field and a .900 fielding percentage. At bat Fairholm knocked 32 hits including five doubles and one triple. She scored 13 runs and had 11 RBIs with a .262 batting average.
