Signals at Penn Street/Highway 965 will be offline Friday, May 15

NORTH LIBERTY — Weather permitting, on Friday, May 15, traffic signals at the intersection of Highway 965 and Penn Street will be offline starting at 9 a.m. so crews can upgrade the signal heads and replace the cabinet that controls the intersection’s signals. The work is expected to be completed by midday. While the signals are down, the intersection will be controlled by a flagger.
This work proceeds the widening of the intersection, which is expected to begin after Memorial Day. During this next stage of the work, the intersection will be open to northbound and southbound traffic, but traffic eastbound and westbound on Penn Street will be detoured away from the intersection. This stage is expected to last about four weeks.
Drivers are asked to use caution around the work site, allow extra travel time, and find alternative routes when possible. Details and updates on this and other North Liberty construction projects are available at northlibertyiowa.org/projects.
