Solon Invitational named for Hadenfeldt
Long time coach and teacher Ed Hadenfeldt was recognized for his tremendous commitment to the Solon Wrestling Club and the Solon Community School District Saturday when Activities Director Keith McSweeney announced the Solon Invitational wrestling tournament would be renamed the Ed Hadenfeldt Varsity Wrestling Invitational. Hadenfeldt has been a teacher and coach at Solon since 1978, and has been involved in the Solon Wrestling program ever since, McSweeney said, including organizing the Little Spartan Wrestling Club. “It was important to Ed to see to it that every young man in Solon be given the opportunity to wrestle, even if it meant driving around Solon and stuffing eight-to-10 kids in his old station wagon to get them to practice, just so they could experience this fine sport,” McSweeney said. Hadenfeldt’s wife Mary, and three sons, Adam, Aaron, and August, were present for the announcement and the presentation of a Lifetime Achievement plaque.
