Solon Public Library
Tax forms are arriving
Basic federal tax forms are now available. Iowa state tax forms will be printed, by the library, and placed on display. The Iowa instruction booklets are only printed, by request, and there will be a fee.
Mark your calendars for the City Wide Garage Sale
If you’re planning a garage sale, now is a good time to start preparing so mark your calendars for the first Saturday in June. The dates this year will be Friday, June 6, and Saturday, June 7.
New window display
“Hollywood and Vine” is the title of the new window display, officially ready to view on Feb. 6. Dedicated to the Hardacre Theater in Tipton, the display will celebrate all things cinema. This window celebrates the glamour and excitement generated through the art and creativity of movies. Oscar winners are featured. What is your favorite movie of all time? Let us know and we’ll post next to our display.
And in conjunction with the window display, don’t miss the Friends of the Library’s annual “Predict the Oscars” contest. Forms are available now. You must be a Solon library patron, and at least 16 or older to qualify for the prizes available. The deadline for your entry is 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 1. Grab some popcorn and enjoy the movies.
Library foundation raffle begins
Let’s think spring. The foundation would like to help you prepare for a spring break to remember, with chances to win a $200 gift card to the Kalahari water park in the Wisconsin Dells or several other great stay-cation prizes. Stop in for information on all of the wonderful prizes offered and for your ticket: $5 each or five for $20. The winners will be chosen on March 1.
‘Blind Date with a Book’
In February, the library is featuring a “Blind Date with a Book” program. You will find wrapped books on shelves throughout the library. Take a chance… take your blind date home and when you finish and return, drop your name in our monthly drawing at the circulation desk for extra prizes. The featured prize is a $25 gift certificate to E’s Florals (with chocolate included).
There is still time to sign up for our Babygarten program. We are delaying our starting date until Feb. 28. Babygarten helps to nurture the bond between caregiver and child, increase eye-hand coordination, and develop body awareness. This rhythmic program will enrich your child’s life from the very beginning and provide an excellent foundation for the future. Each session will feature music, board books, and toys and is intended for children ages birth to 24 months.
Our next Babygarten program will run on Fridays from Feb. 28 through April 4 at 9:30 a.m. Registration is free and can be done by calling the library at 319-624-2678.
