Solon School News
for school year
Solon Community Schools will once again be using an e-registration process accessible through PowerSchool. This process will use the same login information parents of middle school and high school students use to check grades via PowerSchool. This is also the same login information all parents used for e-registration in previous years.
We require all families to use e-registration; therefore we have set up computers at the central office to assist families who have questions or difficulties accessing the registration system. To e-register, log into PowerSchool (https://ps-solon.gwaea.org/public) and click on E-Registration along the left. This year’s registration deadline is Aug. 12 .Questions about e-registration may be directed to Kris Wentzien at 319-624-3401 x1349 or email@example.com in the central office.
All athletes must have a physical examination completed before he/she will be allowed to participate or practice. School physical forms may be picked up at the high school or central offices during the summer or are available on the school’s website under ‘Registration’.
Athletes are also required to turn in a signed concussion form that is attached to the physical.
Numerous federal and state laws require school districts to provide students, parents, and the public with annual notices. You will find the school district’s annual notices listed on the school website (www.solon.k12.ia.us) under the heading “District” then “Notices”. These notices include asbestos, affirmative action, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, Iowa Sex Offender Registry, Homeless Education Assistance Information, NCLB Military Recruitment List “Opt Out” Form, No Child Left Behind: Teacher Qualifications, Nondiscrimination, SCSD Fundraising Requests, and Section 504.
Early Dismissal/Late Start Times
These dates are on the Solon Community School District’s school calendar found on our website at www.solon.k12.ia.us.
Name Badges for Adults
All adults present in the school buildings during regular student attendance time (8 a.m. – 4 p.m.) will be required to wear name badges. For staff, these badges will include photo identification. Other adults entering the building during student attendance time will be required to check into the office to receive a visitor’s pass.
