St. John Lutheran Church Annual Community Polka Festival Aug. 18
ELY– The Annual Community Polka Festival will be held Sunday, Aug. 18, at the Ely American Legion Hall, 1545 Main St., Ely. This is a fundraiser for St. Luke’s Child Protection Center.
The event will begin with a Polka Service of worship at 10:30 a.m. at the legion hall led by Pastor Erika Uthe of the sponsoring church, St. John Lutheran, ELCA of Ely. It will be followed by a meal from 11:45 a.m. until 1 p.m. Activities and a dance will follow until 3 p.m.
This is a traditional Oktoberfest, the meal including bratwurst, sauerkraut and hot German potato salad. There are the more American options of hotdogs, baked beans and chips as well.
The meal and/or entertainment cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 5 to 10 years and free for 4 years and under. Tickets will be purchased at the door.
Music will be provided by the Mount Vernon-based, nationally touring polka band, Barefoot Becky and the Ivanhoe Dutchmen. For more information call St. John Lutheran Church in Ely at 319-848-4510.
