Area dentists have volunteered their time and expertise for many years to make these custom-formed mouth guards. This service is intended only for athletes who will participate in school-sponsored events. The health services department of the Iowa City Community School District recommends mouth guards be worn for all contact sports including football (mandatory), basketball, wrestling and soccer. There is a charge of $15 per mouth guard, which is payable at the time of the fitting. The mouth guards will be returned to the athlete’s school and distributed from the athletic training room or main office. Questions can be directed to Jennifer McHenry at the Central Administration Office, 688-1000.
