Summer Reading Program
The Summer Reading Program is still being attended in record numbers and T-shirts are flying off the shelf to kids who have completed their reading challenges. Around 50 preschooler and kindergarteners have been coming to the library on Tuesday mornings for Storytime. Last Tuesday, over 40 middle schoolers came to Teens On Tuesdays @ 2 for “A Visit To Asia” programming. Thanks to Nomi’s in Solon for providing all the chop sticks and fortune cookies for this event. Attendees numbering in the 80s gathered in the meeting room to watch balloon artist Daniel Poe twist his balloons into shapes during the telling of a story.
Next week will be the last week of programming for the Summer Reading Program beginning with Storytime on Tuesday, July 12, at 10:30 a.m. The theme for the Storytimers will be, “Let’s Go On A Safari” as the theme of One World, Many Stories continues. Teens On Tuesdays @ 2 will take it outside for their last program with the most popular of activities, “Water Olympics.” Dress to get wet, plan to play various wet and wild water games and conclude the day by enjoying root beer floats. The final Family Night program of the season will be juggler Dean Franzen at 6:30 p.m. The “Dean of Juggling” will perform dazzling stunts and amazing juggling feats. Plan to attend this final summer family night program. On Wednesday, July 13, Afternoon Adventurers will meet at 1:30 p.m. for their final program, “Glitter Galaxies.”
Reading activities will continue for a while longer. Saturday, July 23, is the last day to turn in reading logs and T-shirt sheets. Many grand prizes will be awarded in the final drawings. Some of those include two iPod Nanos, tickets to Niabi Zoo, tickets to Waserbahn Water Park and Grand Harbor Water Park, tickets to a Kernels game and a $25 gift card to North Liberty Community Center.
