Three burglaries in NL prompt NLPD reminder: lock your doors
NORTH LIBERTY– The North Liberty Police Department would like to remind citizens to keep their homes and vehicles secured.
During the evening hours of Aug. 24 and the early morning hours of Aug. 25, there were three burglaries to homes in the city of North Liberty. The general locations were the 900 block of Fairview Lane, 400 block of Sugar Creek Lane, and the 800 block of Prairie Ridge Road.
A vehicle was stolen from the garage in one of the burglaries but was recovered several blocks from the area. One of the homes was entered by removing the screen from an open window. The other two were entered either by an open garage door or an unlocked door. The residents were all home while the burglaries took place, with one resident scaring the intruder off by yelling out and calling 911 right away. This incident took place at 12:32 a.m. The other two incidents were not discovered until the morning after its occurrence.
No physical harm came to any of the residents. These incidents remain under investigation at this time. Assistance was provided by the Coralville Police Department and its K-9 unit.
