Trojans get the best of the Creek Boys

CCA leads through three periods but falls, 58-49

TAMA– The Clear Creek Amana (CCA) varsity boys came close to earning their second win of the season Monday, Dec. 19, on the road in Tama. The Creek Boys held the lead through three quarters of basketball against South Tama, but an 18-point effort by the Trojans in the fourth period capsized and sank the Clippers, 58-49.
CCA won the first period, 19-10, and had a slim 32-28 advantage at halftime. A basket separated the squads at the end of three periods with the Creek Boys up, 42-40.
Tate Thomsen led the Clippers with 15 points and seven rebounds. Tyler Hallett provided support with 14 points and four boards.
The loss dropped the Creek Boys to 1-6 overall while the Trojans moved up to 5-2.
The Creek Boys hit the road for three games starting Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, with a trip to Maquoketa followed by a Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, visit to Williamsburg and a Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2017, jaunt to Independence. The Marion Indians visit Tiffin on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017.
