Upcoming display windows
One very big attraction at the Solon Library is the lovely display window designed by Toni Russo. The next display, entitled, “A Reel In-Tents Experience” will be dedicated to long-time Solon resident, Earl Miller. Toni is looking for some items to help complete the window, particularly old items, including binoculars, a thermos, compasses, Girl & Boy Scout small item memorabilia, campfire items and fishing items found within a boat, i.e., tackle, boots and dip net. Any items you would be willing to loan to the window should be dropped off at the library quickly as the display will be finished and making its debut on Oct.14. All items loaned should be clearly marked with your name and phone number so they may be returned to you.
Russo’s enthusiasm rings in her voice as she said, “The Christmas window will be fantastic.” Aren’t they all? The Christmas window is going to be based on an early version of Candyland, the most popular board game of all time, introduced in 1954. Mark Mueller, a local champion in previous gingerbread house contests, has consented to create a masterpiece house to be located at the final chiclet block. The date for the unveiling of this window is yet to be announced.
