Vera G. Wilson, 94, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Crestview Nursing and Rehab Center in West Branch. Funeral services were held on Feb. 19 at West Branch United Methodist Church. Burial was at West Branch Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
Vera was born June 8, 1919, in Cedar County, the daughter of Israel and Idella (Frymoyer) Peden. She graduated from Springdale High School in 1936. She was united in marriage to Clarence Wilson on April 3, 1937, in Davenport. Vera retired from Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, after being employed as a cook for many years. Vera was a member of Springdale United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children: Janet Vikel of West Branch, Lester (Barb) Wilson of Marion, Dale (Judy) Wilson of Iowa City, Kenneth (Marilyn) Wilson of Marion, Connie (Allen) Tisinger of West Branch, Gary Wilson of North Liberty, and Steve (Jean) Wilson of Iowa City and her sister Florence Ohrt of Sanborn. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence.
