Veronica “Bonnie” Power, 83, of Iowa City, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at her daughter’s home in Phoenix, Ariz. after a brief struggle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial was Feb. 23 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Iowa City, with the Very Reverend Rudolph Juarez officiating. Burial followed at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to St. Patrick’s Church or Hospice of the Valley (Phoenix).
Veronica Teresa Power was born Feb. 22, 1929, in Maquoketa, the daughter of Hiram and Vivian (Spain) Goodall. She graduated from Delmar High School and later received her bachelors degree from Clarke University. Bonnie then taught high school in Delmar. She married William C. “Bill” Power in June 1952 in Delmar.
The couple settled in Iowa City where Bonnie and Bill raised their family. Bonnie later worked for Merit/Shay Electric, retiring in 2000.
Bonnie was a longstanding member of St. Patrick’s Church.
Local survivors include her son Dan (Jodie) Power of North Liberty.
