Veterans Day Dinner to include presentation from local veteran
NORTH LIBERTY– The North Liberty American Legion Auxiliary’s annual Veterans Day dinner has been moved to Tuesday, Nov. 15, at South Slope’s community room.
The change has been made due to a USO show planned at Riverside Casino on Nov. 11.
Registration for the Veterans Day event begins at 6 p.m., followed by dinner of roast pork and chicken. The after-dinner program will feature a Power Point presentation and combat footage of Iowa troops in Afghanistan, described by Maj. Mike Wunn, Guard spokeman, as “one of the most significant engagements the Red Bull has been involved in since WWII.” Though no troops were killed or severely injured during this engagement, should the presentation be troubling to veterans suffering from PTSD, provisions will be made for them to leave during the program. Information on the engagement will be presented by a local Iowa veteran who recently returned from duty in Afghanistan.
The event is open and free to any Johnson County veteran and his or her guest, courtesy of the North Liberty American Legion Auxiliary and South Slope Telecommunications.
