Weldon, Koethe are named to divisional First Team

Five Clippers named to WaMaC All-Conference volleyball teams

TIFFIN– Five Clear Creek Amana (CCA) varsity volleyball players were named to the 2015 WaMaC Conference West Division volleyball teams. The conference released East Division and West Division selections on Monday, Oct. 26.
In the West Division, home to CCA, Marion’s Roxanne Paulsen was named the Coach of the Year.
Alyssa Weldon and Sheyanne Koethe were divisional First Team picks with Weldon a unanimous selection. Weldon racked up 262 kills to lead the Creek kills with an average of 2.59 per set. Weldon also had 25 ace serves and 385 assists and 312 digs. Defensively, the senior made 11 solo blocks with 19 block assists. Koethe, the team’s libero, made five kills, had 54 aces, 19 assists and 444 digs as a junior.
Lauren Helle and Ashley Prusha were Second Team picks. Helle, a junior, made 95 kills, two assists, 48 digs, 31 solo blocks and 31 block assists. Prusha, a senior, made 222 kills in the regular season, 38 ace serves and 18 assists with 193 digs, 29 solo blocks and 31 block assists.
Senior Corrine Schwarting was an Honorable Mention pick with 218 kills and 60 ace serves.
The Clippers, in their second year under coach Jackie Clubb, finished the regular season with a 4-3 conference and 23-16 overall record, good for fourth in the West Division behind Marion (7-0, 28-8), Center Point-Urbana (6-1, 28-7) and Independence (5-2, 20-14).
Williamsburg (3-4, 10-22), Vinton-Shellsburg (2-5, 13-21), Benton Community (1-6, 10-23) and South Tama (0-7, 3-22) rounded out the division.
West Delaware led the East Division at 7-0 and 41-2, followed by Western Dubuque (6-1, 20-11), Mount Vernon (5-2, 22-11), Dyersville Beckman (4-3, 12-12), Central DeWitt (3-4, 9-15), Solon (2-5, 10-23), Maquoketa (1-6, 10-19) and Anamosa (0-7, 2-23).
