West defends the mats, defeats four teams in home invitational
IOWA CITY– Mark Reiland’s West High grapplers have proven time and again to be a force to be reckoned with. Saturday, Jan. 11, was one of those times as the Trojans invited Lewis Central, Pleasant Valley, Ankeny and Wilton to their house for a day of fun on the mats. However, the day wasn’t much fun for the guests as West High rolled on to victory over all four.
Tyler Hebl got a pin against Ankeny’s Nate Ross in 18-seconds in a 145-pound match, Sage Wisner took an 11-0 major decision from Ankeny’s Sam Escherich in a 138-pound match, Aydan Wynos pulled out a 3-2 win over Lewis Central’s Jacob Cook in a heavyweight clash, Jackson Voigt won a 170-pound match with a 12-4 major decision over Lewis Central’s Hayden Waldstein and Jasmine Bailey won by fall in nearly five minutes over Wilton’s Owen Anderson in a 120-pound match.
