Wildcats claw West High’s bowlers

Cameron McKnight wins against Durant

IOWA CITY– The Iowa City West High Trojans bowling team tangled with the Durant Wildcats Monday, Feb. 8, at Colonial Lanes, and ended up getting clawed as Durant took the varsity boys match, 2,677 to 2,603. However, West’s Cameron McKnight won the individual title with 392. Durant did not field a junior varsity (JV) boys’ squad, but the Trojan JV boys bowled anyway with Alexander Rohm bowling a 290.
Durant’s varsity girls prevailed, 2,173 to 1,393, with Jade Ritchey putting up a team-high 323. The JV match became a West versus West affair without a Wildcat squad present. Nathan Jones bowled 371 as he and Lyova Merkle fell to their fellow Trojans, 644 to 371, with James Dickens leading a foursome with 243.
The 2021 state tournament is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 24, at Cadillac Lanes, in Waterloo.
