Winter is here, but we’ll Beat the Bitter Feb. 3 and 4

NORTH LIBERTY– Snow has arrived and Beat the Bitter– North Liberty’s celebration of winter games and good cheer– is back with two days of winter fun on the tundra of Penn Meadows Park on Friday, Feb. 3, and Saturday, Feb 4. 

Highlights include fireworks, a full slate of winter games, and the Snuggie Bar Crawl. The weekend kicks off with Fire and Ice Family Friday, culminating in fireworks at 7 p.m. The good cheer starts in the afternoon with horse-drawn carriage rides, ice carving, a meet-and-greet with Queen Elsa and Princess Anna and more, with a community bonfire also on tap. These events are free and open to the public. Saturday begins with the Indomitable Snow Run 5K-ish obstacle run at 9 a.m., with more winter games throughout the day including family and adult divisions of the Kick Winter in the Snow Ball kickball tournament, the Freeze Your Bags Off tournament and the Nearly Impossible Scavenger Hunt. Some games require registration.
