Kimberly Jean Stoneking, 50, of Ely, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, in her home following a short illness. Private family services will be held at a later date. Papich-Kuba Funeral Service, Cedar Rapids, is serving the family.
Kim is survived by her husband, James; four children, Dustin (Ashley) Stoneking of rural Ely, Nathan (Stacy) Stoneking of Hiawatha, Nicole (John) Seeman of Cedar Rapids, and John Rafter of Schoolcraft, Mich.; four grandchildren, Daren and Jamie Shaffer of Cedar Rapids, and Jaden and Jersey Rafter of Schoolcraft, Mich.; her father, Darren (Deloris) Adams of Palo; and two sisters, Justina (Kevin) Strait and Jeanynne (Ron) Stambaugh, all of Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Nancy and Marshall Strait.
Kimberly was born Feb. 1, 1959, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Darren and Nancy (Thomas) Adams. She was a lifelong resident of the Cedar Rapids and Ely areas. Kim married James T. Stoneking on Dec. 4, 1982, in Mount Vernon. She had been employed at the Salvation Army Thrift Store and had also been a foster parent with Four Oaks of Iowa for a number of years.
Kim loved her hoses and dogs and also gardening.
