Nancy Ann Rudd, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, March 1, 2009, in Mercy Medical Center, surrounded by her family. Services were held on Thursday, March 5, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Harlan Gillespie of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church officiated. There was a private entombment in Cedar Park Cemetery. Visitation was held Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and Thursday at the chapel.
Survivors include five sons, Robert Jr. and wife Carol Rudd of Seattle, Wash., David, Tracy and wife Sue of Cedar Rapids, Thomas and wife Jody of Ely, and Richard and wife Chris, and former daughter-in-law, Vickie Rudd, all of Cedar Rapids; brother George Pealer Jr. and wife Patricia; sister, Patricia Lee and husband Roland; brother, Jerry Pealer; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her pet, Toby.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Sr.; a brother, John Pealer; and two sisters, Barbara Simmer and infant sister Jean Pealer.
Nancy was born Oct. 13, 1929, in Davenport, to George and Mildred Walter Pealer. She married Robert W. Rudd Sr. on April 17, 1948, in Cedar Rapids. He died July 5, 2004. She had worked in customer service at the Nissen Trampoline Co. She was a member of the grasshopper golf group. She enjoyed knitting and doing crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed playing bingo, farkle, and spending time with her family.
