IOWA CITY – The American Red Cross is known for helping to keep Eastern Iowans and their families healthy and safe. We all know dogs and cats are more than pets—they’re family. And just like any other member of the family, pets deserve to be cared for and protected.
That’s why the American Red Cross has developed Pet First Aid for Cats and Dogs.
The next class is Monday, Aug. 3 from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. at the Iowa City Red Cross office, 373 E. College St, Iowa City. Register by calling (319) 393-3500.
This course is a four-hour session that provides hands-on training to manage common illnesses, injuries, and life-threatening conditions until veterinary care can be obtained. Participants will learn to recognize emergencies and perform first aid and CPR, then have the opportunity to practice these emergency skills on pet manikins. Please DO NOT bring your pet.
The course fee of $30 includes a Pet First Aid reference guide and DVD of the student’s choice – cat or dog. The Pet First Aid course is appropriate for ages 10 and up.
