IOWA CITY– Bundle the family up, load the thermos with hot chocolate or coffee and come out to F.W. Kent Park on Jan. 3 for an ice fishing clinic, from 3-5 p.m. at the Conservation Education Center Pond, to learn about one of Iowa’s most enjoyable winter activities.
Participants will learn ice fishing basics, including ice safety, equipment needs, fishing technique and fish identification. Instruction will begin at the Conservation Education Center and will move to the Conservation Education Center Pond. A limited amount of ice fishing equipment is available for public use. At least 35 ice fishing rods will be available. Participants are urged to dress for the weather, bring something to sit on and any ice fishing equipment that may be available to them.
