TIFFIN — Coach Sara Bleeker’s Clear Creek Amana (CCA) girls’ varsity soccer team improved to a 10-3 record last Monday (May 16) on the home field after putting away the Panthers from Mt. Pleasant.
The Clippers wasted no time attacking the Panthers, firing off two attack shots within the first three minutes of the match. However, it was Mt. Pleasant who found the net first. Florencia Leunis scored the Panthers’ only goal 19 minutes into the first half.
Eleven minutes later, Ameliea Parris added to her record with CCA’s first goal of the match. Parris had scored her 100th career goal the week before in action against Wellman and was introduced Monday as “Ameliea 106 Parris.”
Emma Borman scored in the 55th minute with an assist by Sydney Boudreau to make the score 2-1, where it stayed relatively un-threatened for the remainder of the match.
The ladies will take on Cedar Rapids Prairie in a Class 2A Region 6 Regional Quarterfinal on Thursday, May 26, at home. Game time is 6 p.m. If successful, they will travel to Marion to face the Marion Indians on Tuesday, May 31, at 5 p.m. with the Regional Final set for Monday, June 6, at 5 p.m. at Cedar Rapids Xavier. The Regional Champion goes to the 2011 State Tournament in Muscatine.
