NORTH LIBERTY– As of July 14, the bike trail from Forevergreen Road to Zeller Street will be closed and detour along Front Street. This closure is estimated to last two weeks, depending on weather. This will allow for construction of the Golfview Drive extension.
This past weekend, eastbound traffic on Penn Street was detoured through Community Drive to Highway 965 to allow adequate space to pour concrete up to the southwest corner of the construction area.
Street Superintendent Don Colony said if weather cooperates, the widening part should be done by early this week.
“That will be followed by temporary painting, back-filling of dirt and installation of storm sewer boxes,” Colony said. “This project is going well so far. Because we’ve had several dry days, we have been able to keep on schedule. When the project is complete, travel will be easier for everyone.”
The City of North Liberty reminds drivers to travel safely and plan extra commute time during the construction. For information visit www.northlibertyiowa.org/ or contact City Hall at 319-626-5700.
