HIAWATHA– The Iowa Food Bank Association, in collaboration with the HACAP Food Reservoir and the United Way of East Central Iowa, invites the community to a public forum addressing the issue of hunger in Iowa and its relation to income, health, and education. The forum will be held on August 25 from 10 a.m.–12 p.m. at the HACAP Food Reservoir,1515 Hawkeye Dr., Hiawatha.
The Iowa Food Bank Association (IFBA) is a collaboration of the eight Feeding America food banks, including the HACAP Food Reservoir in Iowa City. Together the food banks serve over 1,000 non-profit organizations serving ill, infant, or needy individuals in all of Iowa’s 99 counties, including the North Liberty Community Food Pantry.
Hunger is a pressing issue in Iowa and the across the nation. Over 382,000 Iowans are food insecure, or struggle against hunger. These individuals often go days or weeks without knowing if they will receive their next meal.
