TIFFIN— Brian Bronzynski’s Clear Creek Amana (CCA) Clippers varsity volleyball team picked up a win Tuesday night, Aug. 30, at home against Iowa City Regina. The Clippers took the set 3-0 with scores of 25-16, 25-13 and 25-14.
“During the match, I didn’t feel we played very well,” Bronzynski said. “After watching the recording, I changed my mind. We played solidly.”
Maliah Fligg led the team in kills with 10; Hannah Stokes had seven while Grace Chabal, Amy Kalkhoff and Laura Neuzil had six each. Fligg also led in assists with 19, Kate Hergert made 10. Michelle Lutz had 20 digs, Amy Kalkhoff made 15 and Fligg had 10. Defensively Neuzil led in blocks with five solo and two assists. Kalkhoff led the squad in serves with a perfect 24-24 with an ace. Kate Hergert made 18-18 and Neuzil made 8-8 with an ace.
Adjusting to the Regals’ offense was the key to the win according to Bronzynski.
“After we identified that Regina had made an offensive change, and adjusted to dealing with that change, we were pretty happy.” The Clippers put up points in runs of three, five, six and eight.
The win moved CCA to 1-1-0 so far on the season. The Clippers host Mount Vernon for a freshman/sophomore/JV/Varsity series on Thursday, Sept. 8 ,starting at 4:30 p.m.
