IOWA CITY– Elder Services, Inc. will be serving a Christmas Day dinner on Sunday, Dec. 25, at the Elderberry Café in the Iowa City/Johnson County Senior Center, 28 S. Linn St., Iowa City. Please join us from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. for roast pork with cinnamon apple sauce, savory apple stuffing, green bean casserole, party potatoes and homemade custard. Meals will be produced and served by Elder Services with volunteers from the Coralville Optimist Club. Meal delivery will also be available to homebound seniors.
Everyone is welcome to participate. The suggested contribution is $3 for those 60 years of age and older. All participants under the age of 60 must pay at least $4 for their congregate meal or $5 for a home-delivered meal. Any additional contributions will allow the senior dining program to continue to improve and thrive in our area. Call 319-356-5212 today to make your reservation for either a congregate dining or home delivered meal.
Volunteers are needed to deliver meals to homebound clients. If you have reliable transportation, and are available between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Christmas Day, please call 319-356-5212 to volunteer. This is a great opportunity for families, groups or individuals to make a difference and give back to their community. According to the group, nothing is more rewarding than the appreciation received from clients who are home alone on this holiday.
