SOLON– The Solon Retirement Village announced the opening of Memory Care, the newest addition to the retirement campus. Memory Care will accommodate 12 individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia in a new addition constructed on the west side of the Solon Nursing Care Center. The campus received approval from the state to build this unit, a Chronic Confusion and Dementing Illness, or CCDI, in November 2010, in addition to gaining approval to build a new skilled/acute care addition, slated to open later this summer.
“After thoroughly researching the community’s needs, we determined that memory care was a vital missing piece of the continuum of care offered in this area,” comments Melissa Reed, administrator. “We are pleased to soon be able to provide this service for individuals and their families.”
The Memory Care will be open and accepting new residents on May 1. Each private room will offer private bathroom accommodations, plenty of light and space, individual memory boxes outside each door, and a calm and comfortable residential feel. A private dining room, activity room, fireplace lounge and secured outdoor courtyard completes the addition. The unit is part of the Solon Nursing Care Center, and as such, provides licensed nursing care and is Medicare certified.
Reservations are now being accepted. For more information on services and qualifications, please contact Carly Lippert, social service director, at 319-624-3492 or
