SOLON– After a scoreless first half, the Spartans and Mustangs switched sides. With the wind at their backs, the Solon boys soccer team scored three quick goals and added a fourth later for insurance to move the team’s record to 3-1.
Andrew Barenz scored twice, with Austin Dall and Omar Longou each adding a goal for Solon, which held Mount Vernon scoreless in the 4-0 win Friday afternoon. Barenz, Dall and Turner Wentzien were credited with assists. Keeper Garrett Borger defended five shots on goal for the Spartan defense. Earlier in the week, Solon defeated Independence 11-0 and lost a non-conference bout with West Liberty, 2-1.
