NORTH LIBERTY– Nutrition demonstrations, physical exercises, ergonomics information, visual tests and free tooth brushes and mouthguards have been added to the list of services available free at the Healthy Living Fair, hosted by First United Methodist Church in North Liberty from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 2.
The fair, a ministry of the church, is for North Liberty residents who need basic health care checks but face difficulty covering the costs and who, otherwise, might avoid the checks.
Health-related services available at the fair also will include blood pressure checks, height and weight checks, diabetes tests, fitness information, general nutritional information, oral hygiene tips, backpack safety and correct posture demonstrations, immunization information, a take-away program for disposing of old medicines, and other pharmaceutical and wellness services will be available.
Registration is preferred so that volunteers can prepare for the turnout. Registration is required for a pre-exam session with the Mercy Women’s Center Mobile Mammography Unit. The Women’s Center will offer free breast exams using digital technology and radiologists with more than 20 years of experience. Women using this service will start the process at the fair on June 2, where they will receive information and forms to help them schedule an appointment for the Saturday, July 7, breast exam.
To register for the mammography pre-exam session, or to participate in the fair, call 319-626-2762.
Organizations donating all or part of their services include: Adair Chiropractic, Anytime Fitness, Blink Vision, Clark Orthodontics, Core Fitness, Hy-Vee, Liberty Pharmacy, the Mercy Women’s Center Mobile Mammography Unit, Mercy Care North Liberty, the North Liberty Recreation Center and First United Methodist Church.
