SOLON– The Spartan boys’ soccer team controlled the tempo in the first half of a match against Western Dubuque on May 8, but did not score until the second half when Nick Brown and Austin Dall scored a goal apiece.
Western Dubuque answered with a goal of its own before Austin Holub also rang up a final Solon score for the 3-1 final. Western Dubuque played conservative defense to the attacking Spartan strikers but could not contain the their offensive firepower.
After six games on the road, Solon enjoyed a home stand last week. After hosting Western Dubuque, the Spartans stayed home for back-to-back wins Friday and Saturday against Benton Community (3-0) and Anamosa (2-0).
The boys moved to 9-4-2 on the season, with a regular season finale scheduled for Thursday against Clear Creek Amana in Tiffin.
