VINTON– Clear Creek Amana’s girls track and field team qualified seven events Thursday, May 10, in a Class 3A District Qualifying Meet at Vinton-Shellsburg. First and second place finishes automatically qualified for the state co-ed meet Thursday, May 17, through Saturday, May 19, at Drake University in Des Moines.
First place finishes were put up by Maddie Hinsley in the 3000-meter run with a 10:57.30 effort and the 1500-meter run in 5:05.07, the 4x100-meter shuttle hurdle relay (Mia Smith, Hanna Stokes, Natalie Brimeyer, Celine Fender) for their 1:07.82 showing, Megan Hall in the 100-meter dash (12.81 seconds) and 200-meter dash (26.22 seconds) and the 4x200-meter relay (Kelsey Hall, Amy Brant, Kate Hergert, Megan Hall) with a time of 1:48.04. Also placing first was the 4x400-meter relay (M. Hall, Chloe Keith, K. Hall, A. Brant) with a time of 4:10.40.
Celine Fender placed second in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.37 seconds to qualify as well.
The distance medley relay (A. Brant, Kate Hergert, Brimeyer and Keith) is going to state with their 4:29.96 third-place finish along with Mara Jones for her third-place discus toss of 121 feet, 3 inches. Morgan Cox also made the cut with her fifth-place, 117 feet, 9 inch effort.
