IOWA CITY– A 2-0 lead became a 3-2 deficit on the way to a 5-3 loss at home Saturday, June 30, for the West High Trojans to the Lancers of North Scott.
West put up one run in the bottom of both the first and second innings, but the Lancers’ three-run third changed the game. Neither team scored in the fifth nor sixth innings while a two-run effort in the top of the seventh gave North Scott some insurance. The Trojans only mustered one run in the bottom of the inning for the 5-3 loss.
Colin Baker put up a double while base hits came from Ryan Siems, Declan Doyle, Tyus Adkins and Sam Scott. Doyle and Nick Grimsman were credited with an RBI. Luke Crimmins spent six innings on the mound, striking out three and walking three. Crimmins gave up five hits and three runs (all earned) through 99 pitches thrown. Ryan Aller relieved Crimmins for one inning walking one and giving up two hits and two earned runs.
For West: 3 runs, 7 hits, 2 errors, 8 left on base.
For North Scott: 5 runs, 7 hits, 1 error, 9 left on base.
