SOLON– The Clear Creek Amana (CCA) Clippers, under coach Andrew Davis, saw their tumultuous season come to a tough end Friday, July 13, in a Class 3A district semifinal game against the Marion Indians at Solon. The Indians scored in the bottom of the first inning, and then held the Clippers scoreless until Tanner Bandy scored in the top of the fourth.
Marion answered in-kind with their second run in the bottom of the fourth before the game stalemated for the remaining two-and-a-half innings.
Dillon Villhauer, Stephen Jensen, Cody Wagner and Mitch Stopko all had one hit apiece with an RBI for Wagner. On the mound, Villhauer struck-out five, walked one, gave up five hits and two runs (one earned). Villhauer is the only senior still on the roster after seniors Tyler Schulte and Dalton Beckler left the team earlier this season along with sophomore Colton Beckler. The Clippers finish the season with a 6-28 record overall.
